The Land Rover Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race which runs 384 nautical miles along the east coast of Australia has been won by the 11.2 metre long Mortgage Choice Rumba.
The boat crossed the Main Beach, Southport finish line03:02:44:06.
Mortgage Choice Rumba is a Northshore 370, owned by Robert Carr, Stephanie Cook and Kerry Burke.
It was a close battle with second place Bear Necessity that crossed the line 32 minutes later. The scone half of the race saw the two yachts never more than a few miles apart.
While morning winds were reported at on 3 knots which would have made for a late finish, a west/north westerly wind of 12 knots eventually help the crews finish the race.
