Just a few years ago most of us hadn’t even heard of stand up paddleboarding (SUP), but now people ‘doing it standing up’ are a common sight along our shores, and ever more boat owners are discovering and enjoying the advantages of having a board (or two) on board. A very useful second tender, they’re also the ideal craft for exploring the anchorage, the marina, the harbour, a fun platform for youngsters to mess around on, and a great way of keeping in shape too.

The story goes that around 15 years ago, a few Hawaiian surfers decided that they wanted to get on the water to stay fit and have some fun when the sea was flat. So they grabbed a few large Malibu style boards, lengthened a paddle, stood up and paddled the ocean. Little did they know the escalation to come in the sport they had just invented.

Possibly the main contributing factor to growth is it’s ‘sociability’ and safety. Unlike windsurfing or kitesurfing – it is not a ‘billy-no-mates’ sport on the water, it appeals to all ages, and both sexes alike. It is one of the few watersports where participation between the sexes is equal. You can chill and take it easy whilst watching the dolphins, or take it to the highest level of World competition and race between the Islands off the Hawaiian coast.

The boating fraternity is witnessing a huge take up of SUP and the main reason is the advent of high quality inflatable paddleboards, which are far more friendly on the paintwork and fittings, and of course much easier to transport and store. Inflatable boards have been around for a while, but the early offerings were generally a pretty poor experience; low in performance, and easily punctured. Now however, the inflatables from brands like Red Paddle Co offer such great performance and robustness that (unless you’re looking for top-shelf surfing capabilities), the question has become why wouldn’t you get an inflatable! And for boating, it’s really a no-brainer, as inflatables are just so much more boat-friendly. The well-made ones are way more robust than solid boards too; they can be bounced off rocks and run up the beach with impunity.

If you are looking to start a new adventure on board, and invest in possibly your most used play and fitness accessory, here are a couple of key questions answered:

Why have a paddleboard – I already have a kayak on board! A paddleboard is simply more versatile. For starters, it’s not compulsory to stand up – you can sit down and paddle it like a kayak, if that’s your thing. But it’s also far lighter, and much easier to get on and off the boat. It’s a lot more stable, too – you can step down from your boat onto the paddleboard and off you go. You can load a paddleboard up with multiple people and/or cargo. It’s a great boat maintenance platform. Paddleboards give a much better view down into the water, and you don’t get a wet bum and a sore back like you do from kayaking if your technique is anything other than perfect. It’s a fantastic sunbathing platform, perfect escape from the rest of the family on a small boat! They’re great for fishing from too – you can see the fish rising, stand up to cast, use a full size rod, and have a nice big deck area to sort out your tackle on. And above all, a paddleboard is just a great general purpose toy for youngsters; it’s amazing just how creative they get and how much fun they can have with them. And there’s no risk of ‘collateral damage’ – the kids are out there bouncing off boats, swimmers, rocks etc., and no-one is going to get hurt .

Which board should I choose – so many options? Paddleboards come in a huge variety of shapes and sizes, so to keep it simple, let’s just focus on boards for all-round use, the sort of thing you would choose for your boat. These generally have that ‘mal’ surfboard shape, with rounded nose and tail (although a square tail is fine too). The board’s width is the important number when it comes to determining stability. The wider the board, the more stable it is and the more weight it can carry. The length really just determines where the board is on the spectrum of manoeuvrability (shorter) vs straight-line speed (longer). Anything in the 9’8-12’6 length bracket is essentially an all-round board, and will be fine for general purpose use on a boat.

Choosing the right width for your requirements basically means ensuring the board has enough width to support the heaviest person that will be using it.Generally, if the heaviest user is sub 80kg a board of around 30” wide will be fine. Up to 100kg, go for something 32” wide, and 100kg+, look for something wider.

If the board is to be used by more than one person (kids and dog on too!), or for loading up with Eskies, shopping, jerry-cans etc., then again, err on the side of extra width for stability.

SUP boards for boats need some specific fittings. Look for a big solid towing point on the nose and tail; ideally a steel D-ring with a plastic or hard rubber mount to the board. (Avoid webbing fittings, they degrade pretty quickly in sun and salt). Other fixing points on the deck are always useful, either for bungees to shove stuff under, or for strapping down cargo.

Removable fins may seem like a good idea, but actually, the glued-on slightly soft fins are most ideal, as they’re pretty indestructible and can be abused on beaches and rocks all day with no ill effects, and there are no hard bits to bang on legs etc.

Why such a variation in price?: Not all inflatables are the same in quality or performance. Red Paddle co has been making boards for over 10 years. For more info on build quality and options to demo a board visit: www.redpaddleco.com.

Kayak fishing is a great stress relief. The possibility of hooking a new personal best or species that I have not previously caught is a joyful and uplifting life experience. The kayak allows for easy access in a part of the world that is teaming with such a great variety of fish.

I kayak fish because it gives me the ability to sneak from snag to snag silently, while moving in very tight in shallow waters. Sitting so low on the water allows me to hear every surface strike close by.

What to take. When you prepare to go fishing, take a dry storage tubs for wallet, phone and keys. Carry with you, as little tackle as possible (less is best). Most important to take with you are: a landing net and a basic first aid kit because having a fish flapping wildly in a kayak can result in a few bloody spikes.

Where to go. When you are looking for a kayak fishing location, go where power boats and weekend warriors cannot access. Join a local or online club to go with a more seasoned angler to learn as much as possible. Try fishing in freshwater lakes first where tide and swell will not affect you as much. Choose a spot that is easy access from your car.

How to catch bass. The bass species of fish can be caught all year round. If you are a beginner, the bass are a great fish to target with bait and lures. The bass can be found in dams, lakes, and upper reaches of rivers. Depending on your location, they can be caught using spinner baits, soft plastics with jig head spinners, a 1000 size reel, 8lb braid with a 10-15lb leader. And don’t forget your landing net!

The best strategy and technique to catch bass is to go out at first light. In fact, regardless of the species, it is always my favourite time to fish. The warmer months give you a greater chance to use top water lures for some very exciting strikes, especially from a kayak! Otherwise, soak some shrimp traps where you want to fish a week prior to going, and use live shrimp because the bass love them. I like to use a paternoster style rig and keeping the shrimp 30cm from the bottom. Once the shrimp dies, re-bait with a live one. The bass tend to leave the dead shrimp alone.

Trial and error is the key to success. Conduct your research before heading out by listening to local reports, and adjust your fishing trip plans to suit these conditions.

Which kayak? I have been kayak fishing for about 7 years. I use a Mantra Noa kayak. (However, I would love a 4m offshore kayak to be able to hit close reefs off the coast.)

If you do not have your own kayak yet, borrow one from a friend or rent one. Practice with it, ask questions, and note what you think you need for the type of fishing you plan to do.

If you save up a mere $50, you can buy a second hand kayak online. However, do not buy blindly without doing your research. Before you buy, decide on the style of fishing you want it for, and if possible, trial it first to experience first hand if it fits your needs. Be sure of what you want to use the kayak for before buying one. Different brands and styles can cater for different fishing styles.

Wakeboarders on the rivers of the Gold Coast are becoming a familiar sight. Gold Coaster Courtney Angus, wakeboard world champion and youth ambassador, gives tips on how to get into this adrenaline-filled watersport.

If you want to learn this watersport that many people are getting hooked on, read on and you will be out on the water in no time!

THE BASICS

Correct stance. Before you strap onto your wakeboard, you need to determine the correct stance. The best way to figure out if you are a regular (left) or a goofy (right) foot-forward is to think about how you would ride a scooter or skateboard. The foot you push with and the foot you put forward will be the same when setting up your feet on your wakeboard. The bindings should be set up the same way for beginners and pros. Very slightly angle your toes out evenly and set bindings the same distance from the nose and from the tail of the board. A narrow or wide stance depends on the rider’s preference.

On-the-ground training is very important! Learning the right positions and techniques before getting in the water gives a beginner a huge advantage! Sit on the ground with your feet planted in front of you with your knees bent up to your chest. Have your partner stand in front of you with a rope and handle. Hold the handle with two hands, and straight arms. As your partner gently pulls you up, do not resist. Reach forward, and move your weight over your feet into a squat position (the frog position). Stand up slowly from the frog position, and move the handle down towards your leading hip.

Turning. It is all about the weight distribution from your toes to your heels, coordinated with your handle position, similar to snowboarding and skateboarding. Put weight on your toes and pull the handle towards your “back pocket.” Then put weight on your heels, and slowly let the handle move away from your body. Never pull the handle towards your chest. It may cause you to over balance.

Switching feet. Once you are pulled out of the water by the boat and you are successful at standing on your wakeboard, you must next master the switch from front to back foot. Squat down low to avoid a big crash. The taller you stand, the further you have to fall! Lift up your toes and move the handle from your front hip to your back hip in a semi-circle motion.

Jumping the wake. Ultimately you want to be able to jump wake, so approach from as far away from the wake as possible. Keep your back at a right angle to the water. As you reach the wake, straighten up your body and push off the water. As you lift off, pull the handle towards your hips.

Boat Driver. Essential for wakeboarding is having the correct boat setup. The tow rope between the boat and the rider must be taut, before you attempt to pull the rider out, by slowly idling the boat forward until the slack is taken up. The speed can then be slowly increased. When towing beginners, it is best to try and stay under 20mph (around 17 knots or 32kph). The driver must be aware of the right speed for the rider, based on the rider’s abilities and instructions. This can assist the rider to get more air over the wake. When driving, keep a constant speed and the boat steering in a straight line. To avoid rider fatigue keep the tows to 15-20mins and the driver should rest often to ensure you are always alert. When the rider falls, do not power turn so as to avoid creating large chop but rather slow down and turn smoothly.

EQUIPMENT

Rope. A sensible rope length for beginners is 65 feet. For intermediate riders, it is typically 65 to 75 feet. For advanced riders, it is 75 to 85 feet in length. Before you go out and buy a rope, note the importance of having a good quality, non-stretch rope specifically designed for wakeboarding.

Board. When choosing the right board size, one of the biggest factors to consider is rider weight. Unlike the board you might use when snowboarding, wakeboarding will require your board to float sufficiently on top of the water. So it is important to use the specific sizing guidelines of each manufacturer, as the shapes and performance of the board vary. If you intend to share the board, then base your calculations on either the heaviest person to use the board, or the person who will use the board the most. Here are the average weight/height guidelines:

<45kgs = <130cm,

40-70kgs = 130-134cm,

60-80kgs = 135-139cm,

75-115kgs = 140-144cm

90-125+kgs = >144cm.

Boat. There are a myriad of boat brands specifically designed for wakeboarding. These models include tanks below the floor that can be filled with water to weight the boat down, so as to increase the wake for the rider. However, you can use any boat for wakeboarding and either weight to the boat down by positioning passengers at the rear of the boat or purchase some modular water tight ballasts. Be sure that the boat is weight down evenly to ensure even height wake and remember that beginners do not need too large a wake to practice jumping.

Video recorder. A video camera or phone camera is a great way to record the ride. It will show the rider what they look like out on the water and what they might be doing wrong. They can also get a kick out of watching the replays years from now and laughing at how bad they were when they were starting out

SAFETY TIPS

– Wear a life jacket that fits correctly.

– Use a designated spotter to alert the driver when a rider falls and to keep an eye out for other boats or objects in the water. Remember that practice makes perfect.”

See you out on the water!

What are three words to describe your shop? Salt Water Therapy.

“To leave all your worries on the sand and to have the salt water wash away everything, leaving you with nothing but good vibes.”

I had the pleasure of sitting down with Leo, the owner of the Currumbin BoatShed Bait & Tackle for what was probably the most relaxed and easygoing interview that has ever happened. The interview consisted of sitting on a bench overlooking the Currumbin Creek while wearing shorts and thongs. It is not hard to imagine that the little shop sitting on the edge of the beautiful Currumbin Creek created this relaxed setting. You can see why people come here—to get their salt water therapy.

Leo sitting next to me was especially easy going, and why wouldn’t he be? Owning your own shop on the edge of the Currumbin Creek sounds like a dream come true. For Leo and partner Alicia, this dream was only realized a couple of years ago. The tradesman of 30 years (and avid fisherman) decided to make a life change and jumped on the opportunity to buy the BoatShed once he found out that a lifelong friend had it for sale.

The shop has grown a lot since its humble beginnings five and half years ago. Starting out as mainly a bait and tackle shop with a few paddle boards and kayaks, they now have over 80 paddle boards. Not only do they have more in quantity but they also provide quality, as 95% of their products are made in France fabricated from premium materials.

Along with new products, there has also been more community involvement from the shop. This year they sponsored the Bleach* Festival by supplying paddle boards. They also held a day with 92.5 Gold FM to stand up (on paddle boards) against domestic violence, where over 100 paddle boarders were on the water standing up for the cause.

When I asked Leo about what he wanted to achieve with these community events, he was nonchalant and said something along the lines of, “I’m not Mr. Community. But this community has given a lot to me, and so I want to give back to it.” You can tell that he’s not trying to prove to be something that he’s not, but is simply just a good person who owns a great shop which is where all the good vibes come from that surround the area.

Leo says he works to see that “paddle board smile”—the look that people come back with after having successfully paddle-boarded when they initially thought otherwise.

There are regulars who come to the BoatShed a few times a week to get their dose of salt water therapy (but beginners and visitors are always welcome). The BoatShed also offer free tuition because they want everyone to gave a bit of general knowledge about SUP before they venture off.

The inviting music of either blues or reggae will be playing in the background, kids will be having fun, and everyone no matter their age, shape or size will be out on the water enjoying themselves. So leave your worries on the sand, and let the saltwater wash away everything!

The SUP craze is here to stay for sure. Inshore or offshore, the opportunities for SUP is boundless. While SUP has gained popularity on the Gold Coast and beyond, there are still unique offerings that can make the SUP experience a bit more different.

Meet the master of SUP-Tai Chi

Brad Holmes trained at the Australian Academy of Tai Chi/Qigong (pronounced chi-gong) in 1991. He has been a believer of Chinese medicine and holistic body treatment since the 80s when he learned accupuncture, so training for Tai Chi/Qigong is something that came naturally for him.

Brad explains, “Tai Chi means to get back in the balance. Qigong means ‘energy work’. So, Tai Chi and Qigong is the balance of work and energy. It is a light and gentle exercise and very easy to remember.”

In 2004, he began getting into SUP. He was already a surfing instructor and so he started teaching SUP as well. He has been teaching Tai Chi and Qigong since 2005. He has then integrated Tai Chi exercises with SUP, and still continues to offer the program.

The girls give it a try

So here we are, three mums, having had a go at SUP once or twice before, deciding to meet the SUP-Tai Chi master at Budds Beach on an early Friday morning. Brad gives us a briefing about SUP, and then lets us have about 15 minutes getting familiar with our SUP boards and paddles, and paddling on our own on the Nerang River. We start with knee paddling first, and then we move on to standing up. Brad only uses soft-safety boards for SUP to ensure that any danger or risk of injury in case of an accident is avoided.

We are lucky that the boaties are very courteous, and really avoid making a lot of wake as we paddle along, trying to get the confidence up. Brad keeps on encouraging us, “Don’t think about it too much. Just flow with the water. If you fight against water, it fights against you. And always be loose, agile and flexible.” He also reminds us to keep knees bent and relaxed, and to keep looking ahead and not on the board.

Once we have more confidence on the board, it is time to be introduced to Tai Chi. Brad shows us the movements while we are standing on the beach. We are to do the “lotus position” on the SUP board. With knees bent and steady, our arms and upper body do all the gentle exercises. And then, we are ready for the Tai Chi on board!

We all paddle out away from the beach. Then, Brad asks us to place our paddles on our boards between our feet. With knees slightly bent and the board slowly rocking with the soft waves, we all get into the moment, and do the “lotus” exercises gently without as much thought that we are floating on the river. Our boards are moving where the water was taking us. And as we continue to the exercises, we let go of our thoughts and fears of falling off our board.

The slow movement of our boards underneath our feet creates a challenge in conducting the “lotus” exercises, but as we keep repeating the exercises, not mindful where our boards are taking us, we are taken into a natural sense of calm and balance—which is what Tai Chi is all about.

Anyone can do SUP-TaiChi

Brad shares that some of his clients do not know how to swim. So he encourages knee-paddling first. And when they get more confident, they easily learn how to stand up. Tai Chi is also a form of preventative therapy. “It calms the breath, calms the heart and focuses the mind,” explains Brad.

He also says that one does not need to be fit to be able to do SUP or SUP-Tai Chi. “At least 50 percent of my clients are not physically active. I do tailor the sessions to my client’s personal needs and wants.”

Brad offers SUP coaching on Budds Beach every day. He is patient and is calm with his students and ensures that the experience is always something special. “As a teacher, I am always a student, because every student I teach, teaches me a new and different way of how to teach the next one.”

Stand-up paddle boarding, or more casually called SUP, a fast-growing popular activity on the Gold Coast, is a very pleasant and addictive form of water sport. It is also a safe and healthy activity provided you have fairly simple and important basic instructions, such as the position on the board, correct use of the paddle, and correct posture.

Here are 10 simple tips to get you started.

It will be of course a lot easier to get into SUP if you are not afraid of getting wet.

On your first attempt, start on your knees as this will give you the ‘feel‘ of the board. Place your knees either side of the deck grip about shoulder width apart as this is usually the centre, widest and most stable part of the board.

Make sure that before you mount the board you are at least in knee-deep water. This ensures that the fin is not hitting the sand and cause the board to stop abruptly, which can result in a fall. While in that position, practice paddling technique, turning and stopping the board.

When you feel more comfortable and confident, place the paddle across the board, put your feet where your knees were one foot at a time and slowly stand up, bringing the paddle up with you.

It is important to try to stand in a relatively relaxed position with your knees slightly bent, and your legs and feet as relaxed as possible.

It is advisable to move to deeper water when standing—at least one-metre deep—as this will help prevent hitting the bottom if you do fall.

Always fully submerge your paddle blade as this gives you more power and control of the board and helps with your balance.

While paddling, if a boat passes, it is safer to try to go directly onto the wave. It is also advisable in such a situation to keep the paddle blade fully submerged as this helps to stabilise the board.

Try not to use your upper body to balance. Balance with your hips and knees and keep your upper body as central as possible. This is extremely important for heavily-built and tall people.

It is always a good idea to check the weather report on tides and wind.

Paddling the creek

Tallebudgera Creek is a beautiful place for paddle boarding and is an ideal way to explore the creek. The pristine water conditions and the ever-changing colours of the creek can be amazing. Being framed by the Burleigh Heads National Park on one side you will definitely find yourself among nature. With the natural surrounding scenery emanating, you gain a feeling of calm, and the experience of a different perspective while standing on your board can be a tonic to the soul.

Viewing the marine life with crystal clear water, from above can leave you constantly in awe. Whether you leisurely cruise along on a board or get into an energy-packed fitness workout, either way can be exhilarating. It is an enjoyable activity for families and friends to get together and enjoy the great outdoors, suitable for most ages even up to the 80s age group.

So often, before people go out on a board, they ask, ‘Is it difficult?’ After a lesson and instruction, and returning after their hire, they have grins from ear to ear telling us how they had so much fun. And if you are really lucky, the friendly dolphins that seem to like human company may also come for a visit!

Get paddling on your SUP board or hire one, and experience the natural surroundings found here.

Living healthy is a booming trend on the Gold Coast. This current lifestyle has seen a huge increase in people’s activity levels on our waterways, and there is a new craft of choice in recent times. Stand up paddle boarding (SUP), or known from the pioneering Hawaiians as “Hoe he’e nalu,” is a traditional but rapidly evolving global sport, becoming increasingly popular over the last few years. An SUP board is a large surfboard with the volume and size to float someone standing up without a force or a wave, with a one-sided paddle used to manoeuvre. Because of this, together with the world’s best waterways, SUP in Gold Coast estuaries is becoming very popular.

Safety with SUPs

The safe and calm waters in Currumbin Creek provide an easy opportunity to learn. It is advised to stay well inside the mouth of the creek while still learning, and eventually tackling some of the Gold Coast’s world class waves as the skill level increases. Allowing boats or other motor powered crafts the right of way at all times is essential because they do the damage to you, not them. Also to maintain optimum safety, the correct safety gear, such as leg ropes, must be worn to secure the board so that it does not go upstream by itself. And remember, always slip-slop-slap.

The sheltered areas of the estuary allow for families and friends to hit the water safely. With its small estuary system, Currumbin Creek is far less hazardous than the mass currents at the Tweed Bar or Seaway. “Currumbin Creek is a healthy waterway with lots of beauty and plenty of nooks and crannies among the mangroves and under the bridges,’’ says Justin Mitchell, experienced and innovator on his SUP.

“Stand up paddle boarding is an enjoyable family-friendly sport, and can be participated by all ages,’’ says Justin. Having the ability to turn it into a weekly family activity is a great way to get the kids off their smart phones and Facebook, and to enjoy the outdoors while undertaking a healthier lifestyle. A young child can even simply double up and catch a ride on the front of the board.

While paddling alongside loved ones, mates or even in solitude, your chances of running into friendly marine company, such as dolphins, is highly possible. And if needing more challenge, take up the new latest craze of yoga on SUPs. You do have to work up your skills and stability first.

So how do you get started?

Within the Currumbin community and throughout the Gold Coast, SUP boards are readily available. Most modern day surf shops will have them, but your best bet is to see an SUP board store. These boards can be costly, so it’s best to hire one out first or get some lessons which are affordable.

Have fun exploring the adventurous world of stand up paddle boarding, have a go, get hooked and hope to see you on the water!

A completely new boat from the hull up

The 2015 Malibu Wakesetter 22 VLX is a total redesign of the previous 21 VLX model.

This 22-foot model features a new running surface designed to deliver perfect wakes and waves for wakeboarding and wakesurfing. With Malibu’s amazing new Command Center, featuring the 12-inch MaliView and seven-inch MTC touchscreens, total control of everything is at your fingertips, including the now-standard Zero Off GPS speed control, Surf Gate, ballast systems, and the bigger, hydraulic Power Wedge II, a 2015 upgrade that builds even better wakes and has been engineered to get boats on plane much faster.

Malibu Boats CEO Jack Springer is excited to be launching the 22 VLX at Orlando’s Surf Expo on September 4th. “Considering the popularity of our previous VLX, we knew we were improving something that was already great,” says Springer.

“For 2015, our product-development team has delivered more new innovations than ever before in our 33-year history. With the 22 VLX’s new hull, our new Power Wedge II, and our unrivaled Surf Gate, we’ve made this the most versatile 22-foot boat on the market and have increased our surfing advantage with the continuing evolution of our wakesurf system. All of this makes it one of our most exciting 2015 boats, and I can’t wait to show it to the entire industry at Surf Expo.

”The wake on the 22 VLX is easily fine-tuned for every skill level, from beginners to the top riders on our Malibu Pro Team. Malibu’s artisanal craftsmanship is evident in every aspect of this thoroughbred machine, with updates like the G3.2 Tower with easy latching, a three-mode Livorsi throttle, new hull graphics, transom seating, a drop-in Igloo cooler, and three new metallic gel colors to choose from.

Upgrade options include the new gold-standard G4 Tower, the premium Power Wedge II, high-fidelity G-Force Wet Sounds speakers and amps, WakeView seating, and a new, intuitive analog control dial for the Surf Gate, Power Wedge II, speed, and stereo.

Mastercraft news page announces: New X23 Model

The inland surfing trend has become a global phenomenon and MasterCraft continues to deliver the longest and most customizable wave on the market with the introduction of the X23, the latest in its line of luxury performance boats dedicated to surf. Beyond mere afterthoughts, MasterCraft has designed this boat from bow-to-stern to mirror the best attributes of coastal surfing allowing even landlocked families to wax up a board and hang ten. The X23 is the second, now larger addition to MasterCraft’s 2015 fleet to utilize an all-new surf specific hull design.

The Endless Wave at the Touch of a Finger
The new 23-foot luxury watercraft leaves the competition in its wake – literally. The boat has been engineered from the fins up to create perfectly shaped, customizable waves thanks to its award-winning Gen 2 Surf System and surf-specific hull. Unlike the competition, MasterCraft custom fits its deployable surf devices to complement the hull shape of each individual boat, even going so far as to individually machine the left and right sides to compensate for the rotational forces of the prop.

The shape of the wave can be instantly transformed using the futuristic, yet intuitive seven-inch Murphy touchscreen to match customized surfer profiles, including options for both goofy and regular riders. The 3,000 pounds of compartmentalized ballasts serve to further sculpt and lengthen the wave opening up entirely new surf zones for slashing, spinning and carving.

The Perfect Blend of Power and Progression
The MasterCraft X23 comes stock with a 5.7 L Ilmor Marine engine powerplant that was designed and engineered by the same team who has countless championships for Team Penske. The X23 has one of the sleekest, deepest hulls on the market providing for a smooth, responsive ride – powerful enough for the pros, yet versatile enough for anyone to step in and learn aboard the best.

Innovative new transom lounge seats are optional within the back sundeck of the X23 along with optional built-in camera mounts to capture all the surfing action. MasterCraft’s signature “hips” and pickle fork bow allow for a roomier, ergonomic interior able to accommodate 15 passengers complete with ingeniously integrated storage compartments that offer effortless, one-handed access.
