This is Redcliffe’s biggest street party to soak up the cool beach-style atmosphere. GOLD COAST 600 V8 SUPERCARS RACING 20-22 Oct

The Gold Coast’s biggest weekend of entertainment is back, featuring high octane, action-packed Supercars racing. Drivers get set to do battle through the streets of Surfers Paradise. TWEED VALLEY JET SPRINT CLUB 28-29 Oct

OFFSHORE SUPERBOAT CHAMPIONSHIPS  28-29 Oct

Get ready for the thrill of high-octane powerboat racing in Hervey Bay.

The weekend includes the chance to see the boats out of the water and meet the drivers in the pit bay, an esplanade boat parade, and fast and furious racing action out on the water. OYSTER FESTIVAL 18 Nov

Celebrate oysters, seafood, and wine at the Sandstone Point Hotel 2017 north of Brisbane by Pumicestone Passage. The sprawling bayside venue will serve up free family friendly fun and entertainment, oyster shucking demonstrations, oyster appreciation classes, seafood and wine stalls for lunch, along with fresh seafood to take home from the trawlers at the jetty. ROLEX SYDNEY HOBART YACHT RACE   26-31 Dec

Over the past 72 years, the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race has become an icon of Australia’s summer sport. Hosted by the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, no regular annual yachting event in the world attracts such huge media coverage than does the start on Sydney Harbour. The race has had a marked influence on international ocean yacht racing, and influenced the world in race communications and sea safety, maintaining the highest standards for yacht race entry. More than $100 million worth of superyachts from across Australia and other parts of the world will descend and party on the Gold Coast for the first ever Australian Superyacht Rendezvous. ICOMIA CONGRESS – 24-27 May

The International Council of Marine Industry Associations (ICOMIA) is the international trade association representing the global marine industry. The ICOMIA Congress will be staged on the Gold Coast and attracts delegates from around the globe. Hosted by ICOMIA’s Australian member, Boating Industry Association. The annual event is a joint congress with the International Federation of Boat Show Organisers (IFBSO).

 

SANCTUARY COVE INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW (SCIBS) – 25-28 May

Organised by the Boating Industry Association of Victoria (BIAV), the Melbourne Boat Show is the premier boat show in Victoria and showcases hundreds of recreational boating, fishing and related products and services. ADELAIDE BOAT SHOW – 30 June-2 July

THE HOBIE KAYAK BREAM SERIES 22-23 July

The Hobie Kayak Bream Series is designed to offer kayak anglers a competitive bream-fishing tournament. These events are open to all makes of kayaks. LAND ROVER SYDNEY GOLD COAST YACHT RACE – 29 July

This year will mark the 32nd edition of the 384-nautical mile race, starting at the Sydney Harbour and finishing off Main Beach in Southport. Southport Yacht Club is the Gold Coast host. The boats should arrive at Southport by 1st August. (goldcoast.cyca.com.au)

 

SYDNEY INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW – 3-7 Aug

The show returns to Darling Harbour and will occupy the entire 32,600m2 of exhibition space and the use of an elevated 5,000m2 open-air event deck at the newly built Sydney International Convention Centre. Incorporating the Australia International Dive Expo and an expansion of the marina displays at Cockle Bay.

AUDI HAMILTON ISLAND RACE WEEK – 15-22 August

SHAG ISLET CRUISING YACHT CLUB (SICYC) RENDEZVOUS – 22-27 August

The Rendezvous is the annual gathering of members at Shag Islet, situated in the Gloucester Passage in the Whitsunday Region in North Queensland, Australia. SICYC is a social club for yachties boasting 3,500 members in 14 countries, and is a not-for-profit group supporting the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. This year’s theme is Parrot Head. 2017 BRISBANE BOAT SHOW – 25-27 Aug

The Brisbane Boat Show will be at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, Southbank. The Show is owned and organised by the Boating Industry Association (BIA), the voice of Australia’s boating industry. While fishing plays a big part of the event, other boating tastes are also catered for. Water ski and wake boats, personal watercraft, family cruisers, canoes and kayaks, and more, will be plentiful. SOUTH PASSAGE GENERAL PUBLIC DAY SAIL – 11 FEBRUARY

Explore Moreton Bay on board the deck of Queensland’s own tall ship – South Passage, a 100-foot gaff-rigged Schooner owned and operated by the not-for-profit association, The Sail Training Association of Qld Inc. For the enthusiast, learn the ropes as part of the crew; otherwise sit back, relax and take in the sea air. 2017 Australian Wakeboard Nationals – 2-5 MARCH

The world’s best wake boarders will be hitting the Gold Coast for the Australian Nationals the first weekend of March. From 2 to 5 March, 2017, Australian wakeboard champions, including Gold Coaster Cobe France, will be competing in this national event at the Marine Stadium on the Gold Coast.

 

MYORA CUP YACHT RACE – 4 MARCH

A Bay Race for Division Yachts down into the Southern Bay and finishing near North Stradbroke. Organised by Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron (RQYS), the regatta is open to all monohull and multihull boats on the register of a yacht or sailing club affiliated with a state yachting authority. QUIKSILVER PRO – 14-25 March

The WSL Championship tour kicks off at Snapper Rocks on the Gold Coast. Join the world’s best male and female surfers as they battle it out in the 2017 Quiksilver Pro and Roxy Pro. BRISBANE TO GLADSTONE YACHT RACE – 14-17 APRIL

Held annually and starting on Good Friday, this premier blue water classic begins from Shorncliffe in Moreton Bay and finishes in Gladstone Harbour. SAIL ABOARD SOUTH PASSAGE IN BRISBANE TO GLADSTONE YACHT RACE 14-17 APRIL

The South Passage is a 100-foot gaff-rigged Schooner, built specifically for adventure sailing, and will take part in the excitement of Australia’s premier Easter sporting event. The Australian Schools Match Racing Championship attract emerging talent teams from clubs along the Australian east coast. Regarded as one of Australia’s premier sporting events, the Gold Coast Airport Marathon is set to attract more than 28,000 participants of all ages and abilities from Queensland, interstate and overseas. Organised by Boating Industry Association of NSW, the Sydney Trailer Boat Show will display an array of boats for most boating tastes, with lots of gear for boating also available. It will be a great day out for boating novices and enthusiasts. Held at Sydney Showgrounds at Sydney Olympic Park, admission is free and the show will operate from 9am to 5pm on both days. CHINESE NEW YEAR 2016 12-14 Feb

This event marks the new lunar year (starting 8 February) in the Chinese calendar. Sanctuary Cove welcomes visitors to celebrate the Year of the Monkey. Enjoy traditional Chinese crafts, kite making, mask painting and Chinese calligraphy, and also Chinese music and lion dancing, fire cracker and kung fu display. ITU WORLD TRIATHLON GOLD COAST 9 April

World class triathletes will descend on the Gold Coast to battle it out for the International Triathlon Union (ITU) World Triathlon Series. SAIL PARADISE REGATTA 13-17 Jan Southport Yacht Club’s spectacular high summer four-day regatta will be staged on the beautiful ocean waters off the Gold Coast. The regatta is open for a wide variety of sailboats—from Grand Prix level ocean racers to cruising yachts, racing and cruising multihulls and off-the-beach small boats. SURF TO CITY YACHT RACE 23 Jan Organised by the Queensland Cruising Yacht Club in association with Southport Yacht Club, the race is open to monohulls and multihulls. Inshore Fleet follows the main channel from Southport to Brisbane past all of the islands in the southern part of Moreton Bay. Offshore Fleet start off the Southport Seaway, the yachts head to enter Moreton Bay and finish at Cabbage Tree Creek, in the picturesque Brisbane bayside village of Shorncliffe.

 

BURLEIGH PRO 2016 29-31 Jan The three-day World Surf League (WSL) sanctioned event for both men and women. A great warm-up for some of the best surfers in the world who will later compete at the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro contests at Snapper Rocks. The prize purse of $15,000 up for grabs and valuable Qualifying Series points at the iconic Burleigh Headland.

 

CHINESE NEW YEAR 2016 This event marks the new lunar year in the Chinese calendar. Sanctuary Cove welcomes visitors to celebrate the Year of the Monkey.
