SICYC celebrated the launch of its 2016 raffle for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA) and its 7th Birthday, at Boat Works on 30 April 2016.

The Boat Works provided a fantastic setting for these celebrations. The public was invited to join members of SICYC for a great day and to take the opportunity to look over the fantastic facilities and services available at Boat Works.

The master of ceremonies, for the official launch of the raffle and the cutting of the SICYC 7th birthday cake, was Tony Bartlett from the Gold Coast radio station Hot Tomato.

The first prize in the Shag Islet Cruising Yacht Club 2016 Rendezvous Raffle is a HQ Holden station wagon wrapped in an iconic ‘Parrothead’ theme. The classic station wagon has been donated by Llewellyn Motors to SICYC to assist in raising money for prostate cancer awareness and research. The wrap has been donated by Boat Works Coomera and Print Image Signs. There are over 20 prizes in the raffle with the second prize being a $5,000 yacht Charter for 8 people in the wonderful Whitsundays, donated by Cumberland Charter Yachts. The draw will be held on 28 August, during the annual Rendezvous.

The celebrations featured entertainment by “The Hasbeans”, with a sausage sizzle provided by Boat Works and the Galley Restaurant to raise money for prostate cancer research.

The CEO of PCFA, Associate Professor Anthony Low has expressed his appreciation for the support provided by SICYC, Boat Works and Llewellyn Motors. Leading national prostate cancer researcher, the distinguished Professor Judith Clements AC, and other leading community dignitaries were invited to officiate on the day.
