World’s leading sport cruisers set to impress at SCIBS 2017

by May 18, 2017

The 29th Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show will be the place to see the world’s leading brands in the perennially popular sports cruiser segment.

SCIBS sales and exhibition manager Dominic O’Brien said the wide range of sports cruisers on show at SCIBS 2017, both on water and in The Boatyard, will offer “something for everyone”.

“From the pinnacle of luxury, imported vessels to entry level motor yachts, these exciting and enticing vessels are ideal for the Australian boating lifestyle,” he said.

“The marina will be full this year and visitors can expect a massive selection of cruisers in every configuration – from flybridge to sedan, 70ft to 30ft and weekenders to long-range vessels – with enormous scope for customisation.”

Amongst the high-profile assortment of sports cruisers that will grace the marina this year is Australia’s own Maritimo, which will be hosting the Australian launch of the new M59 following its world debut in Miami in February.

Maritimo sales and marketing manager Greg Haines said the M59, with a price tag of AUD$2.86 million, is a three-cabin, two-bathroom vessel with a wide beam and large back opening lazerette, similar to the large M64 motor yacht and smaller M51.

“The back of the boat opens up to a large storage space which is perfect for a tender and all the water toys you could want,” Mr Haines said.

“The cockpit is accessed from both sides with openings to the hydraulic swim platform, and because of the boat’s large beam, the space is substantial.”

Maritimo has confirmed five vessels on water including the M51, M54, M59, M64 and X54, with the possibility of a few more now that the company’s Queensland dealership has relocated to The Marine Village.

Another high-profile dealer based at Sanctuary Cove is Leigh-Smith Yachts, planning a display valued at more than $10 million.

“This year we will display our boats in our new location at H pier,” said co-owner Dean Leigh-Smith.

“We’ll be implementing the ‘stern to’ format of Fort Lauderdale and Monaco, making all our boats viewable from the boardwalk and the floating pontoon display.”

The brand-new Alaska 47 Sedan will be on display, along with the new Fairline 48 Targa from the UK – showing 15 metres of sleek Mediterranean styling and spacious design.

Premium Australian motor yacht brand Whitehaven will host the launch of the latest custom-built model from its 6000 Flybridge Motor Yacht series.

Taking inspiration from the Whitehaven 7000 Flybridge, the new 6000 model offers a spacious entertainer’s cockpit, tender garage, flowing galley through saloon and stunning accommodation.

Multiple accommodation layouts are available, along with the brand’s unique contemporary forward or aft galley saloon flowing out to a Euro-style cockpit.

British brand Sunseeker will be represented in the Sunseeker Manhattan 65 – a four-cabin flybridge model with spacious aft deck and saloon, stabilisers and excellent amenities, making it perfect for entertaining and long-range cruising.

From Italy, the Monte Carlo 6 and Monte Carlo Yachts 70 will both boast jaw-dropping appeal for visitors seeking something completely hand-crafted with extraordinary materials.

Represented by Sundance Marine, the MC6 and MCY70 are stunning examples of Italian design and engineering.

The Monte Carlo 6, a 60ft (18.22m) luxury cruiser, will be making her Australian debut at SCIBS.

The spectacular MCY70, with its gold hull and superyacht features, is a voluminous 70-footer which sleeps up to 10 people and offers clients the ability to customise every aspect of their boat to suit their needs.

Based at Sanctuary Cove, Horizon Motor Yachts Australia will have their E56XO Sports Yacht on show this year.

Specifically designed and engineered for the Australian market, E56XO is an upgraded version of the previous E73 and the E84.

Combining sleek exterior styling and numerous outdoor amenities with luxurious interior accommodations, Horizon’s first sport yacht model will be one of the largest motor yachts at SCIBS this year.

She is based on the popular E56 model but offers new alfresco entertaining areas, including a custom-designed aft deck transom cabinet that transforms into a serving area and forward deck dinette and sunpads.

Australian-made Palm Beach Motor Yachts will be displaying the PB65 and PB42 – the largest and the smallest models in the range.

Grand Banks will present the all new GB60, the brand’s model that represents the results of 60 years of boatbuilding expertise.

Complementing the cruiser segment is the propulsion side of the boating industry, engine brands, alternative power and stability systems returning in strong numbers to SCIBS and adding to the diversity on show.
