The Aczel Marine team, which pioneered sustainable synthetic decking in Australia over the past quarter century, introduced its new Austeek brand at the recent Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show. Their booth handled inquiries from many boat owners wanting an alternative to natural teak with the same beautiful features, but with lower maintenance and a longer life than traditional teak.
In its early days, Aczel Marine adopted the Swedish invention, Flexiteek, as its product of choice and one of the best replacements for original teak decks. Trading as Flexiteek Australia, Aczel Marine serviced the marine industry Australia-wide, supplying and installing synthetic decking for a wide range of vessels. As the popularity of synthetic decking continued to grow, Aczel Marine became recognised as one of Australia’s most experienced specialists in the field. As times change, and new products are perfected, Aczel’s new brand, Austeek, is happy to be associated with Permateek, a market-leading decking material manufactured in the United Kingdom from UVstabilised and stain-resistant PVC. The product has earned an international reputation for its durability, realistic appearance and ability to withstand the harsh marine environment.
Designing and manufacturing synthetic decks from their purpose-built factory on Russell Island in lower Moreton Bay, the Aczel team earned a reputation as Australia’s most experienced synthetic deck builders. The parent business, Aczel Marine, has served the boating industry with shipwright services for more than 30 years, bringing a wealth of marine construction and refit experience to every project. Decks designed and made by Austeek are built from fine-quality virgin PVC material and are thermally welded rather than glued. Their decks hold their colour and maintain their grain longer than many alternatives and are highly resistant to wear, knocks and scratches. They are designed to provide the timeless look of teak without the ongoing sanding, oiling and maintenance associated with natural timber.
Austeek can provide a complete redecking service, including the template, build and installation, or it can manufacture a deck to the customer’s template and provide advice on installation for DIY projects.
