Experience the ultimate versatility with the Cygnet 20, a remarkable vessel designed for sailing, motoring, and even rowing. With its convenient towability, this craft is your gateway to endless adventures in your desired destinations.

Created to excel in cruising, racing, and exploring Australia’s magnificent waterways, the Cygnet 20 offers swift setup, impressive sailing speed, and comfortable accommodation for up to four adults, making it truly one-of-a-kind.

David Simonds, proud owner of Bacchus (build #18, Southport), a Cygnet, approached Bluewater Cruising Yachts with the brilliant idea of organizing a cruise for Cygnet owners. The journey would span from Paradise Point to Canaipa Point in Southeast Queensland, encompassing four days of thrilling exploration. This maiden voyage, known as the Southern Raid, proved to be an incredible success. Five boats embarked from Paradise Point, heading north, while the two Cygnets departing from Moreton Bay wisely avoided the gusting 30-knot southerly winds.

The other boats in the raid were accompanied by David (Bluewater Cruising Yachts owner), Mark and Kathy (Tide Rider, build #2, Central Coast), Geoff and Louise (Missee Lee, build #20, Myall Lakes), and Darryl (Chere Mia, build #13, ACT). The sailing and anchorages along the way were nothing short of amazing. One owner even delighted in the joy of sailing single-handedly amidst the fleet. For those considering solo sailing, this experience provides the perfect opportunity to learn and test your skills while still enjoying the camaraderie of fellow sailors. With a southerly wind propelling the fleet northward, the boats relied on their jibs alone for the initial two days, later reefing the main sail for the remaining two. The Southport Yacht Club and Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron offered excellent facilities, ensuring a resort-style experience for the crews, who were able to retire and rest aboard their Cygnets at the end of each day. While the on-land amenities were exceptional, it was the thrill of sailing and the camaraderie shared amongst the fleet that truly stood out, providing endless fun for all.

The Cygnet 20 is an easy, safe, and forgiving vessel that caters equally to weekend family sailors and experienced seafarers seeking hands-on excitement. This nimble and swift modern gaffer is ideal for inshore cruising or club racing. With its shallow draft design and cockpit-operated liftable keel, you gain access to shallow bays and the ability to beach the vessel effortlessly.

Setting up the rigging is a breeze, whether on the trailer or in the water. The Cygnet 20 utilizes water ballast, easily controlled through the large capacity bilge pump, ensuring both safety and performance while sailing. Equipped with a high peaked gaff mainsail, roller furling jib, and deck-stepped rig with lightweight carbon fiber spars, this vessel offers swift and manageable sailing. All sheets conveniently lead back to the cockpit, ensuring secure and efficient handling in various sea conditions. Recommended motor is a Tohatsu 6hp Sailpro mounted on transom.

The generous cockpit provides an excellent space for day sailing, while the cosy cabin below offers weekend accommodations for a couple or a family of four. The cabin features a pop-up top for increased headroom at anchor, a double forward V-berth, and an onboard porta potti. The galley boasts a single burner butane stove, a cupboard for dinnerware, a cutlery drawer, ample storage space, and a sink.

Embark on a lifetime of sailing enjoyment with the Cygnet 20, the perfect vessel to launch your seafaring adventures. With a price comparable to a mid-size 4-wheel drive vehicle, the Cygnet presents an affordable and enticing option for yacht enthusiasts like yourself to relish today.
