Jetpilot is a proud sponsor of local Queenslander, Cory Teunissen, a successful world-class international athlete that is constantly working hard to bring more attention to the sport of wakeboarding and help it grow.
Like many Australian watersports champions, Cory’s wakeboarding career started in Queensland, when his barefooting champion dad introduced him to water skiing when he was very young.
The proud Aussie wakeboarding champion spends a great deal of his time competing around the world and is based in Orlando, Florida, to compete in the US wakeboarding circuit.
The two largest wakeboarding Pro Tours (the WWA, World Wake Association and the PWT, Pro Wake Tour) are both held in the USA where Cory bases himself for the majority of the year in order to compete. Being away from Australia for large periods of time has been challenging as he would love to see continued growth in the sport and also his mainstream athlete profile back home. He is currently ranked second in the WWA World Rankings and has been on the podium at most events since 2019 when he broke through to reach rank #1 in the world.
Cory has twice won the World Titles and when he was just 15 years old, he was acknowledged as the youngest person to land a wake-to-wake 1080, and since then he’s landed two double-flip variations and a 1080 in a single finals run.
At just 24 years of age, there is no doubt that we Queenslanders will be hearing more about Cory as he continues to shine at competitions around the world.
