JOMO – The PLASTIC you WANT in your waterways

AFTER A RESCUE – 2 LIVES SAVED THE JOMO 300 IS CURRENTLY IN USE BY MULTIPLE VMR DIVISIONS AND HAS MADE NUMEROUS RESCUES SINCE BEING DEPLOYED

With the ever-present push towards renewables and a cleaner future, the idea of plastic boats may seem counter intuitive at first. However, this could not be further from the truth. Plastic boats are in fact some of the greenest boats to produce, with minimal waste and little to no by-products that far too often end up harming our beautiful environment. With an extremely long lifespan, minimal hull maintenance, and the ability to fully recycle, plastic becomes the obvious choice.

Jomo boats strives to be at the cutting edge of polyethylene boat development. Our maiden design, the Jomo 300, pushes the boundaries on what is possible with plastic. Featuring our patented rotomoulding techniques that maximise hull rigidity, the Jomo 300 is capable of taking serious power without the severe transom torsion apparent in other plastic boats. The hull is completely airtight due to our use of sealed screw and bolting points, circumventing the need to drill and seal which are always points prone to failure.

The Jomo 300 is currently in use by multiple VMR divisions and has made numerous rescues since being deployed. The small stature and excellent handling of the Jomo 300 allows it to precisely navigate through tight and shallow waterways where other vessels often struggle. On the other end, it easily takes on rougher waters without fail, providing a safe and dry ride for those on board. It is able to rapidly respond and reach those in need, thanks to its 20-horsepower rating, while allowing responders all the necessary gear due to its high load rating of 459kg – over 50% more than competitors. It is the ultimate small search and rescue boat.

The Jomo easily slices through chop thanks to its hull design, while the natural flexibility of polyethylene delivers a soft, comfortable ride for passengers. The cushioning effect that polyethylene provides is similar to that of inflatables without the ability to puncture or deflate. The Jomo hull is a single piece with no welds or joins that are often susceptible to cracking or parting over time. Featuring industryleading level floatation, the Jomo 300 will remain above water when completely flooded, even while carrying the maximum rated load.

The Jomo console is one of the most compact consoles available on the market. Its minimal footprint allows users to maximise the already outstanding interior space of the Jomo 300 without interference, even with 4 passengers. It is constructed out of a rigid stainless-steel frame to endure weathering, and a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) dash that complements the plastic nature of the Jomo whilst being resistant to wear and damage. A key benefit of the separate frame and dash components over a single-piece console is the ability to customise the frame dimensions, and subsequently the steering position, to suit the end user.

All of the developments at Jomo boats have been put through rigorous testing to ensure everything functions as intended. From simple buoyancy and floatation tests all the way to drop and stress tests, we have pushed the Jomo to its breaking point, or more correctly it’s non-breaking point, to ensure it is the safest small boat on the market. We are constantly innovating and implementing changes to improve our design, not only to exceed our competitors but to ensure the Jomo is the greatest plastic boat available. It is this pursuit of excellence that has enabled the Jomo 300 to compete internationally with exports currently underway and growing.
