Gold Coast City Marina

There are lots of factors that go into choosing the best marina for your boating experience. We’ve talked to Nick, GCCM’s dockmaster who explains why being able to depend on a dockmaster’s team in a marina is a great advantage for vessel owners.

The team includes Nick and Chloe, assistant dockmaster, and James in the office.

WHAT’S THE ROLE OF OUR DOCKMASTERS?

So primarily the role of the dockmaster team is booking the marina as efficiently as possible and, once the boats are in, looking after them, helping them and providing the best customer service on the docks We need to fit the best boat into the best berth and if that means shuffling things around that’s what we do. Our various skills are:

Using our knowledge of boats, the marina plan, the tides and currents to safely manoeuvre boats into and out of their

Ensuring that the docks and moorings are in good condition and that they can safely support the weight and size of the boats.

Ensuring that boaters are following the marina’s rules and regulations, such as speed limits and noise In a working marina like GCCM, some vessels go through some refit on water and our dockmasters will ensure that all work is done following the safety and environmental regulations.

Dockmasters play an important role in the marina community. They are responsible for the safety of boaters and the security of the marina. They also provide a valuable service to boaters by answering questions and providing assistance.

At GCCM the team focuses on providing the best customer service.

PERSONALISED CUSTOMER SERVICE WITHIN THE MARINA

Our focus is customer service. We make sure that we offer you the best service. For example, if you don’t have boat thrusters, we will put you somewhere where you are comfortable. If you need to work on one side of the boat, we will make sure that whichever side you’re tying up to is the convenient side.

Boat owners or captains primarily come to GCCM to get work done They want to benefit from the great facilities and from the possibility to work with 90 of the best marine experts, all located by your transom door at the marina This facility has one of the highest concentrations of marine services in the southern hemisphere, each one with their specialisation.

I think it’s really the variety of trades and being able to get everything done at the marina. We have all the marine trades here, we can offer pump out facilities, do in water service if required etc. People find it very convenient to work in this location and they have two dockmasters helping them.

FROM JET SKIS TO SUPERYACHTS

The marina offers 250 berths for boats, from jet skis to superyachts. The draft of some sailing boats coming to use our keel pit is up to 4 metres.

We can cater for every size of boat and that’s the advantage of coming to GCCM for people who are looking for boat storage -Including our award- winning Dry Store.

As a working boatyard we have many situations where vessels come in without working engines, or they go back in the water and their engines need to be commissioned, so we do a large amount of towing which makes us quite highly skilled in that area. We have 3 work tenders which give us the capacity to move any size boat safely within the marina.

ALL THE ONSHORE FACILITIES

On top of our dockmaster team’s services, the marina offers all the onsite on shore facilities expected in a 5- Gold-Anchor Marina, including wifi, customer lounge, bathrooms and showers scattered around the yard, laundry, trolleys, courtesy cars, ice, vending machines, access to fuel 24/7, and one of the biggest recycling facilities in Australia. Each berth has its own water and a minimum 15 amp power supply Most berths in the larger basin offer from 25 amps to 63 amps, while berths capable of up to 400 amps are available for superyachts.

The marina caters for many sailing boats, offering the use of a keel pit to work under the waterline and a choice of renowned sail lofts and rigging experts. Local commercial boats are regulars too and know they can count on a prompt response from our team whenever they need an urgent tow.

So, here you go, all you need for storing your boat can be found right here at GCCM on the Coomera River.
