THE BOAT WORKS EXPANDS: STAGE 5 HAS BEGUN, DOUBLING SIZE OF SUPERYACHT YARD

The Boat Works is known for its commitment to delivering high quality marine infrastructure, which in turn attracts more boats and creates jobs.

Continuing the momentum, the Longhurst family will add further investment into the marine precinct with major construction comprising the addition of 50 percent more sheds and hardstand to the now three-year-old Superyacht Yard.

With foundations piled and concrete being poured, completion is scheduled for the end of 2023.

“Building on the success of the superyacht facility that we opened in January 2020, we are adding more infrastructure for tenants and customers,” explains CEO and owner, Tony Longhurst.

LIFTING THE BAR: 90-TONNE BOAT LIFT, THE FIRST OF ITS KIND

The Boat Works have welcomed the versatile 90-tonne expandable travel lift from Boat Lift in Italy – making them the first boat yard in the southern hemisphere to operate a lift of this kind. The Boat Works now has five machines operating over both yards, lifting every type of vessel up to 300-tonnes.

“To keep pace with demand, we decided to invest in this variable width, all-wheel drive machine,” explained General Manager, Shane Subichin.

“It has an adjustable beam width narrowing the vessels footprint from 8m down to 5.5m allowing the team to maximise the vessel set down footprint.
