Conor McGregor’s NEW BOAT

“The Lamborghini of the Sea”

As has been widely reported, Conor McGregor, the wealthy former mixed martial arts (MMA) featherweight and lightweight UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) champion, has become the proud owner of a customised Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 motor yacht.

Conor posted on Instagram that he was “honoured to secure the Number 12 edition of just 63 to be made. 1963 being the year Lamborghini first began”.

The magnificent yacht is the result of a collaboration between the Italian manufacturer of racing-inspired luxury sports cars and SUVs (Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A.) and Tecnomar, which has launched 289 yachts since 1987 and is part of The Italian Sea Group.

Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini said: ”This yacht represents the significance of creating a valuable partnership, at its best: our co-operation allows the essence of both organisations’ style and expertise to be transferred to different worlds, sharing in their diversity to interpret and add value to the final product in a new environment. If I had to imagine a Lamborghini on water, this would be my vision.”

The Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63’s design has been largely influenced by the Lamborghini Sián FKP 37 super sports car, which boasts the classical sleek lines for which Lamborghini is renowned, and a hybrid system to add even more power to its V12 engine. It uses a lithium-ion supercapacitor, three times more powerful than a battery of the same weight. The 48V system enables peak currents of up to 600A to power an electric motor which delivers engine torque directly to the rear wheels and, during braking, uses inertia to recharge the capacitor.

Conor has chosen a motor yacht which has a power on the seas reminiscent of his power in the MMA arena. Its two inboard MAN V12 2,000 hp diesel engines are truly powerful and can send this yacht racing through the sea at a cruising speed of 40 knots and a maximum speed of 60 knots.

Parallels between the Lamborghini Sián and the Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 are the sports steering wheel, leather drivers’ seats, start/stop engine buttons (one for each engine), angular windows, and even the Y-shaped bow lights. The yacht also has an instrument panel reminiscent of that found in the cockpit of the sports car, but with a nautical flavour, and has completely integrated navigation and control systems. Aboard there is accommodation for two crew and up to five guests.

As the name suggests, the yacht is 63 feet (19.2 metres) in length, and it has a maximum beam of 18 feet. Its hull is made using GRP (glass-reinforced plastic also known as fibreglass) vacuum technology and superstructure material using carbon-fibre extensively, so the yacht weighs only 24 tons. With these attributes, it is classified as an ultralight vessel, due to the relatively low D-L ratio (displacement-waterline length) of below 100.

With its sleek lines, luxury styling and finishes, and speed through the water, you can understand why this yacht is dubbed ‘The Supercar (or Lamborghini) of the Sea’.

A Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 will cost you around $4.8M AUD.
