Leading the Charge – CARBON YACHTS and the Future of ECO-FRIENDLY Marine Innovation

As the maritime industry steers towards a more sustainable future, Carbon Yachts is at the helm, offering innovative electric alternatives that meet the rising demand from environmentally conscious boaters. This shift is particularly relevant for those transitioning away from traditional petrol-powered boats, seeking viable, eco-friendly options.

CANDELA: ADVANCING MARINE TECHNOLOGY WITH ELECTRIC FOILING DAYBOATS

Candela is aiming to revolutionise the boating industry with its electric foiling dayboats, which dramatically reduce energy consumption and enhance operational efficiency. These boats are powered by a robust 57 kWh Polestar battery that supports longer trips with minimal environmental impact. Candela’s integration of advanced hydrofoil technology allows their boats to glide above the water, reducing drag and thus increasing range and speed, setting a new benchmark for electric boat performance.

VIRTUE YACHTS: PIONEERING WITH OPTIONAL EVOY ELECTRIC OUTBOARDS

Disruptive new dayboat manufacturer Virtue proudly offers the option of integrating Evoy’s cutting-edge electric outboard systems alongside their solar-powered T-tops that help charge the house batteries when moored. This forward thinking attitude, paired with avant-garde design featuring fold down side balconies, earned them the Le Moteurboat Innovation Award at the 2023 Cannes Yachting Festival.

ASTENDERS: REDEFINING THE ELECTRIC DINGHY EXPERIENCE

ASTenders is at the forefront of the electric dinghy segment with models like the AST 340 Revolve, boasting a 25-knot top speed and a range of 120 nautical miles at a speed of 3 knots. Full carbon fibre construction allows AST to keep their 280 model, weighing only 30 kgs, exemplifying the German factory’s commitment to a lightweight and efficient design that in-turn allow greater ranges when fitted with e-propulsion. Chris Hrones, Partner at Carbon Yachts, notes, “The enthusiasm for ASTenders’ electric models is not just about innovation and market-leading luxury; it’s about convenience and cleanliness. Electric options in dinghies make sense because nobody wants a smelly, leaking outboard on their mothership. Over 80% of enquiries confirm that boaters are ready for cleaner, more efficient alternatives.”

SAFFIER YACHTS: PIONEERING SELF-SUFFICIENCY IN MODERN SAILING

Saffier Yachts, as the largest manufacturer of daysailers in the world, continues to set the standard in ecofriendly sailing innovations with their entire range offering electric drive options. The SE 24 Lite, which has garnered widespread acclaim, epitomises the brand’s commitment to sustainability. Celebrated as the 2024 European Yacht of the Year, this model is lauded for effectively being self-sufficient whilst still maintaining a motor, house batteries, and electrics.

Its design ingeniously balances energy efficiency with performance, enabling sailors to enjoy the water with minimal environmental impact. The SE 24 Lite’s capability to operate independently of external power and fuel sources, combined with its sleek, efficient sailing performance saw it celebrated as the 2024 European Yacht of the Year.

INFRASTRUCTURE INNOVATION: THE SEAVOLT SOLUTION

To support the practical use of electric boats, Carbon Yachts is championing the rollout of Seavolt DC fast chargers across all D’Albora marinas on the Australian East Coast. This development ensures that electric boat owners can enjoy the same convenience as those with petrol-powered vessels, effectively removing the most significant barrier to mainstream adoption of electric boating.

Mary Bickley, Sales Manager at Carbon Yachts, reflects on the broader impact: “By providing viable electric options, we’re catering to individuals who’ve already transitioned their lives to be more sustainable—those with electric vehicles and solar homes, but who, until now, hadn’t found a boat that aligns with their values. Our goal is to bridge that gap, making sustainable boating accessible and practical.”

Looking ahead to the Sydney Boat Show 2024, Carbon Yachts is set to display an exciting lineup, with the Australian premieres of the Candela C-8, the entire ASTenders range and Saffier 37, alongside the returning Virtue V10, Saffier 33. Additionally, Australia’s first Saffier 24 is scheduled to arrive in early 2025, further expanding the options for eco-conscious boaters downunder.
