There are now twice as many services and resources for your boat at The Boat Works, Coomera, with the opening of the new superyacht refit yard, doubling the size of the facility to a total of 55 acres.
The 5-star service The Boat Works is renowned for is extended to vessels ranging from jets kis to 70-metre superyachts. Australia’s premier marina and shipyard is home to the highest concentration of marine businesses and brokerages, with a reputation for dedication and passion for the boating lifestyle.
Visiting boaties and trades have access to more than 60 tenants on-site, spanning the entire spectrum of marine professionals – the complete A to Z of marine services all in one place.
Marina manager, Shane Subichin, says “Exceeding customers’ expectations is our business. For us, no request is too big or small. We pride ourselves on providing world-class marine trade services and support, maintaining immaculate facilities, and operating safely and sustainably. We work together to deliver an efficient and innovative yard experience for our customers, and to make their lives out of the water as easy as possible. This includes providing an unrivalled range of world-class services and state-of-the-art facilities.”
Customers enjoy the convenience of consolidated services on-site, as well as the freedom of choice: to engage your preferred trades, to complete the work yourself, or to hire a professional project manager to coordinate the entire project to your timeline and budget.
Pioneering the concept of the ‘dry marina’, a dedicated precinct for wide-bodied multihulls and monos to be stored in a secure, safe, cost-competitive area when you are not cruising.
Our refit facilities are second to none, and the new superyacht facility is unrivalled anywhere in the region, or the world. There are now 50 screened refit sheds for every size vessel and every requirement, plus over 20,000sqm of hardstand across the two yards. For on-water servicing and berthing, there are 115 berths for yachts up to 70 metres, the Gold Coast’s largest travelift at 300 tonnes, a dedicated crane pad and sandblast bay – all with top-level systems for water and waste recycling.
The refit yard has already welcomed several 30+-metre vessels, including international superyachts, whose captains attest that the aesthetics and atmosphere at The Boat Works surpass marinas in Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach or Barcelona.
The captain of 33-metre MY Pinnacle, Captain Kane Sutherland, says he and his crew received “first-class service at a facility that surpasses many other facilities I have experienced as an international captain.”
Captain Glenn Woodbridge of 35-metre Sunseeker, MY Settlement, says, “I’ve been to most yards in the world, and this is unique. The attention to detail throughout the facility is unlike any other.”
The facility is not just a 5-star resort for your vessel, it caters to owners and captains with equal attention to detail and all the creature comforts. The Captains’ Club Lounge – a luxury, two-storey VIP reception centre adjacent to the slipway – is a quiet retreat for captains, crew and owners, offering an array of premium services and commanding views over their vessel, marina and superyacht yard.
The Lounge was designed as a bespoke space among owners, project managers and service providers, and is perfect for meetings, administrative work, emails and refreshments.
Mitchell Torrens, co-owner of 28-metre Mangusta MY Vanish, which underwent a substantial refit at The Boat Works, praised the high standard of marine trades at The Boat Works who went above and beyond to meet a tight deadline ahead of summer. “The team of marine trades at The Boat Works were spot-on with every aspect of the job,” says Mitch. “All the specialists at The Boat Works are at the top of their fields and they’re boaties too, so they know what standard we’re holding them to.”
The southern yard continues to lift 40 vessels per week, while the influx of vessels to the new superyacht facility has created a tangible ‘buzz’ in the Coomera Marine Precinct. “More boats means more jobs,” says The Boat Works’ owner, Tony Longhurst. “Not just in the marine and boating industries but in hospitality, tourism, provisioning – all the things visitors to Southeast Queensland want to see and experience while they carry out work on their boats.”
