The Cora 48 Catamaran originated from the impressive Heliotrope range of power catamarans: a long-range, fuel-efficient hull design with one of the largest flybridge spaces for a 48-footer in the global market. There are still many Heliotropes exploring the world’s best cruising grounds in Asia Pacific, America, and Europe.
The redesign of the Heliotrope 48 was a project initiated by the late composite expert and boat builder Mr. Paul Scholten, who had great respect for the design and its builder Mr. Philippe Guenat. Paul spent many months reviewing every part of the design to bring about its new look with the team at PMG Shipyard and The Yacht Sales Co. to create the Cora 48 Catamaran of today.
Meticulously manufactured by renowned Swiss owned PMG Shipyard based in Rayong Thailand, this world class waterfront 20,800 square metre facility has eight production buildings, a unique pre-launch test pool, and state of the art infrastructure. PMG Shipyard is well known for its excellent craftsmanship, attention to detail, flexibility, build quality, and industry-leading seakeeping designs.
Established in 2004, manufacturing vessels for heavy duty professional use by the Special Forces, navy, police, customs, sea rescue, ambulance and patrol boats, the shipyard now handles selected high-end leisure craft brands like Heliotrope, Solar Explorer and more recently the new Cora 48 Catamaran.
PMG Shipyard is a privately held company with Swiss ownership and management, having a strong European presence in management and key technical positions with world-renowned members of the advisory board. The shipyard has been expanding over the years to be able to fulfill an ever-growing demand for luxury yachts from our partners and customers.
