WHITTLEY FF 1950 OUTBOARD – IT’S GOT ALL THE BELLS AND WHISTLES

The FF 1950 OB is a purpose-built family fishing boat offering modern comfort and style. It’s a triedand- true offshore boat, big enough to sleep aboard in The Broadwater, then at first light head 30km offshore. This boat will provide a soft dry ride and perform really well all day.

As the entry-level offshore boat of the Whittley range, the FF 1950 OB will eat up any chop out on the water with its 19° deadrise, deep-vee hull. Much bigger internally than you would expect for a 6.2m boat with a 2.3m beam, the FF 1950 OB is based on the John Savage Mako hull. The model boasts many of the larger SL features in a proven, affordable Whittley package.

The FF 1950 Cuddy Cabin is made from fibreglass, which offers many benefits over aluminum, including; 1) Sprayed and rolled for strength: No alloy fatigue or broken welds to repair, plus the option of foam filling for added strength.

2) No corrosion issues: Drop a coin or sinker into an alloy hull, and the corrosion process starts and can be quickly visible with electrolysis occurring.

3) Gelcoats sprayed for life: Gelcoat is part of the moulding process, unlike alloy paint, which can fleck off and is prone to peeling with electrolysis.

4) Full-length moulded chines: Strategically located throughout the hull to slice through the water effortlessly.

5) Better & softer ride: Nothing rides better than a fibreglass boat!

6) Less noise: Fibreglass boats are quieter than alloy boats when at rest and on the move.

7) Increased fuel economy: The hull’s design shape is more slippery through the water, meaning less money spent at the bowser.

8) Easier to drive: Solid high sides and sure-footed on the water, with a quick transition onto the plane.

It’s got all the bells and whistles, including a stepthrough transom door and transom pods on either side of the engine well, which add buoyancy and stability at rest. The front of the boat is ideal to get your family comfortable while out on the water. A large cabin with optional bunk infills makes it a large volume overnight boat, while the bimini with clears protects everyone from the elements. The FF 1950 OB has plentiful cabin storage with a double shelf nearly all the way around the hull so that you can carry loads of gear.

Anchoring is easy, with the convenient walk-through configuration allowing excellent forward access to the separate anchor locker and large bowsprit with a lazy anchor system and dual batteries. The floor is fitted with high-quality rubber matting, which covers the underfloor 150L fuel tank.

The boat has heaps of storage space under the floor and under the bunks and has two shelves in each of the gunwales. Each boat has a pair of eskies under the steel framed ergonomically positioned pedestal seating, which can be moved to the transom to make a reading lounge.

The back part of the boat is set up for fishing, featuring one of the largest fishing cockpits in its class, thanks to the unique folding outboard door in the engine well. There are also handy toe rails to slide your feet under for comfort and plenty of room to store your prized catch in the large underfloor kill tank. The canopy is fitted with six alloy rocket launcher rod holders, and the gunwales can be fitted with 3-way rod holders. The helm is large enough to install a 12-inch sounder on the dash.

Powered by the standard 150hp Mercury 4-stroke Outboard, which makes it an on-water rocket, the FF 1950 is an efficient sports fishing platform that slices through chop and delivers excellent steadiness when drifting or at anchor. The hull grips in the turns and rides nicely in choppy waters. Depending on conditions, the boat will average better than 2 km per litre, which is very economical for a 6m – 1300 kg boat on water.

At a steady cruising speed, you can travel 300 km on a tank of fuel or approximately 8 hours of running time, making it possible to stay out all weekend. The boat is capable of a top speed at 5800 rpm, of 65 km/h and 1.2 km/L, and economical cruising speed at 3500 rpm, of 36 km/h and 1.9 km/L.

The FF 1950 is delivered on a dual-axle easy drive-on/ drive-off trailer and is light enough to tow with a large family sedan or smaller SUV. It’s built to tackle rough conditions without breaking your budget. It also comes with many standard features other comparable boats charge extra for and is backed by a 5-year hull warranty supported by the Whittley Marine Group.

The FF 1950 packaged with a Mercury 150hp 4-stroke and dual-axle Mackay Trailer, is available from $99,999.00, drive away from the Whittley QLD dealership inside The Boat Works at Coomera.
