MAJOR EXPO MOVES TO GOLD COAST TURF CLUB

Despite Parklands in Smith Street being bulldozed to make way for the Commonwealth Games Village, organisers of the the Midyear Caravan Camping Expo are looking forward to being the first major event to make the move from Parklands to the Gold Coast Turf Club in Bundall as the facility undergoes major upgrades and expansion works.

Bob Carroll from Australian Events said that he had operated numerous events at Parklands for over 21 years and even though he was sad to see the popular venue lost he was optimistic about relocating to the Turf Club facility in Bundall. He said some of the new facilities that will be built in coming months included a large pavilion, expanded car park areas and large hard stand out door display grids.

“With the support of the State Government, the Gold Coast Turf Club is undergoing a major redevelopment to enable it to host our event and others that had been operating at Parklands previously. I am sure that it will take some time before the venue has all of the works completed but at least some of the main foundation works will be done in time for the opening of our event on Friday the 25th July. I invite everyone to turn out and support the inaugural event because we have plenty of surprises in store and this event will be one of the largest of its kind in Queensland which is exciting news for Gold Coast residents and visitors.” he said.

The Gold Coast Midyear Caravan Camping Expo will have over 160 displays showcasing hundreds of the very latest release caravans, camper trailers, motor homes and new utes and four wheel drive vehicles. There will also be numerous displays of camping equipment, camping accessories, off road motoring parts and accessories and in fact everything that you could possibly require for your next big adventure or holiday.

Popular celebrity, Ranger Nick, will be demonstrating the art of preparing the right sort of fire to cook the best possible feast in a camp oven. The large iron pots are making a comeback amongst caravanning and camping enthusiasts and the list of recipes ranges from ginger beer scones to wallaby stew and everything in between. Ranger Nick claims anything that you can cook in an oven at home can be cooked in a camp oven but it will taste a whole lot better and it will be a lot more fun because the whole family will want to be involved. “With the right ingredients pavlovas, bread and butter puddings and other sweet dishes along with pies, stews, soups, breads and even pizza can be made with very little effort”.

The Caravan Camping Expo opens at the Gold Coast Turf Club from 9am each day on Friday the 25th July to Sunday the 27th July. All the event details are on the web site www.goldcoastexpo.com.au.
